Thanks to his famous father Kirk Douglas, the young Michael was early introduced to the life of celebrities and the movie business. Therefore, it was almost predetermined for him to go to acting school. After playing a few small parts, he was cast in the US TV Series “The Streets of San Francisco” and immediately awarded with three Emmys in 1972. At the age of only 31 he had the courage to try to work as a producer and had an enormous success with the movie “One flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. The movie won five Oscars, one of them in the category of “Best Movie”. He also won an Oscar for his acting performance in the movie “Wall Street”. That makes him one of the very few who received an Oscar for acting and producing. Countless successful movies followed such as “Fatal Attraction”, “Basic Instinct” and “The Sentinel”. Michael Douglas is without a doubt one of the most successful and most famous actors of Hollywood. In addition to his Oscars and Emmys he was awarded with a Golden Globe and a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the American Film Institute. He also entered the list of the 100 greatest actors of all time.
